Connected Packaging: Turn Every Product into a Digital Experience
Connected packaging transforms physical products into digital touchpoints using GS1-compliant QR codes. When consumers scan, they access product information, recipes, sustainability data, loyalty programs, and more — while brands gain scan analytics, consumer insights, and anti-counterfeiting protection. Sprouter's platform starts at $500/month for up to 100 SKUs.

Connected Packaging FAQ
What is connected packaging?
Connected packaging uses QR codes, NFC tags, or other scannable elements on product packaging to link physical products to digital experiences — product information, recipes, sustainability data, loyalty programs, and authentication. Sprouter's platform creates GS1-compliant connected packaging that also works at POS.
How much does connected packaging cost?
Sprouter's Connected Packaging Starter plan begins at $500/month for up to 100 SKUs. Connected Packaging Pro is $1,500/month with anti-counterfeiting, Digital Product Passport, and up to 500 SKUs. Enterprise pricing is custom for 500+ SKUs.
Does connected packaging work with existing barcodes?
Yes. Sprouter's connected packaging uses the dual-marking approach — your existing linear barcode (EAN/UPC) stays on the package alongside a new 2D barcode (QR code). Both barcodes coexist during the transition period until retailers fully support 2D scanning at POS.
What data can consumers access by scanning?
Anything you configure: product information, ingredients, allergens, recipes, how-to videos, sustainability and sourcing data, loyalty rewards, warranty registration, recall notices, and Digital Product Passport data. Sprouter supports 55 configurable link types.
